New Talk Available: Modernity of Tibetan Buddhism

Khenpo Sodargye was invited by Northwestern University on October 31, 2017, to give a talk to discuss the advanced principles and philosophy of Tibetan Buddhism which are very much applicable in modern society. Khenpo shared five major reasons for the growing popularity of Tibetan Buddhism globally.

One key reason for its global appeal to modern society today is that Buddhist teachings are based on logic, scientific reasoning, and rationality. Like the Buddha once said, “You should analyze what I said as like how a goldsmith would refine gold from a shiny metal. Don’t just accept it because I said it.”

Khenpo shared the life story of Tibet legendary practitioner Milarepa to inspire those who want to seek the truth and ultimate realization. Khenpo shared examples of practices and encouraged everyone to aspire to a stronger and calmer mind. At the end of this talk, Khenpo shows a precious video of His Holiness Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche and the beautiful scenes of Larung Buddhist academy.
