Seven-Line Prayer to Guru Rinpoche 7
Guru Rinpoche prophesied, “When the iron bird flies and horses run on wheels, the tantric teachings will flourish.” Because of Padmasambhava’s aspiration during his causal stage, his blessings, in terms of removing obstacles and granting siddhis, will be swifter than the other Buddhas’, during the time of degeneration when demons and tirthikas are rampant. Wherever you are, as long as you pray to him devotedly, like a mother caring for her only child, Padmasambhava will come to bring you comfort, protection and blessings; this is his inalterable pledge.
In this Lecture 7, Khenpo expounds on more teachings from termas like the Prayer in Seven Chapters, the Epic of Padma, The Jeweled Treasury of the Oral Transmission, giving more detailed explanation on the excellence of Guru Rinpoche. In addition, Khenpo shares Carl Jung’s affection and opinions on the Tibetan Book of the Dead, and touches upon Tibetan Buddhism’s influence in the Han region, from the Yuan Dynasty, through the Ming Dynasty, until the end of the Qing Dynasty, exhorting people to keep an open mind regarding Tibetan Buddhism.
